Visiting us and working out is great. Lack of sleep or not sleeping well is not great; it could significantly affect your health and performance. Here are some tips to help you get some shut eye.

Sound slumber results in increased energy and productivity, an improved heart and immune system, a better mood, weight loss and maybe even a longer life.

Here are a few helpful ideas for a good night's sleep:

  • Set a sleep schedule and stick with it.
  • Keep a sleep diary to track your sleeping patterns.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Exercise, but not within 4 hours of bedtime.
  • Cut caffeine after 2 p.m.
  • Start a bedtime routine – read in bed, put away all electronics, or even try meditation.
  • Stay cool.
  • Listen to white noise or sounds of the ocean.
  • Eliminate light sources.
  • Check your pillow position.
  • Practice deep breathing, meditation, or other guided relaxation techniques.
  • Stay put if you wake up.


If you want to feel your best, consider sleep as a necessity, not a luxury.
